The County Government of Uasin Gishu Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development in collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), is conducting a three-day workshop focused on Alternative Justice Systems (AJS) to address emerging issues in land ownership, management, and access. This initiative is particularly important in rural and marginalized areas where formal legal systems are limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Nelly Jerotich, Director of Lands, highlighted the significance of this training, noting the positive impacts of FAO\u2019s support, which includes the establishment of a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) lab to enhance land management and decision-making. The workshop aims to equip Department of Lands officers with the skills to manage land disputes effectively, promoting food security by ensuring farmers can secure their land rights.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

By incorporating AJS, which emphasizes community-based solutions and flexibility, Uasin Gishu aims to improve access to land and enhance agricultural productivity.
