Uasin Gishu County is set to benefit from the Kenya Urban Support Programme (KUSP 2), a transformative initiative aimed at upgrading infrastructure in Eldoret City. The program, which follows the success of KUSP 1, focuses on major improvements in roads, stormwater drainage, solid waste management, green spaces, street lighting, and footpaths, all of which will enhance the city’s urban development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This morning, County Secretary Mr. Edwin Bett chaired a high-level meeting with the County Executive Committee members to discuss the path forward for KUSP 2. The meeting focused on ensuring all requirements for the program’s successful implementation are met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We were key beneficiaries of KUSP 1, and KUSP 2 will elevate Eldoret to a smart city through improved infrastructure,” said Mr. Bett.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The County Executive Committee Member for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing, and Urban Development, Dr. Kosgey, assured that the county has the capacity to manage and execute urban development projects. This includes qualified personnel, well-established systems, and solid structures in place for implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We will ensure community involvement in identifying sustainable projects that benefit the environment and the public,” Dr. Kosgey added.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

City Manager Mr. Tito Koiyet emphasized the importance of urban development plans in aligning with KUSP 2’s goals. These plans will focus on improving infrastructure, service delivery, and driving economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, CECM for Trade, Eng. Martha Cheruto, highlighted the role of the private sector and business community in ensuring the successful progress and benefits of the projects.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Eng. Joseph Lagat, CECM for Roads, reiterated that experienced engineers would oversee the projects to ensure they achieve the highest standards of success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
