The Ministry of Information and the County Government of Uasin Gishu are in discussions regarding a possibility of setting up an ICT Techno Savannah in Eldoret City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This discussion has been buttressed by the technological and innovation programs that are being rolled out by the county government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking while calling on Governor Dr Jonathan Bii on Friday, National Assembly’s chair of ICT committee, John Kiarie, said an ICT policy that is being developed will give nod for big cities to have a techno park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kiarie, who is also the Member of Parliament for Dagoreti South, said the policy is in a whole comprehensive plan of adopting technology and advancing innovation in Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Eldoret is not only positioned as the gateway to East Africa but also the economic hub for up to eight counties. This offers good ground for investments in all sectors and ICT is definitely core in this,” said Dr Bii.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The County head also reiterated that his administration has harnessed ICT and Innovation, using technology as an enabler to achieve efficiency in service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“That we have adopted ICT in health, lands, education, and all other departments puts us an ideal organization that is ready for partnership to advance this idea of technology,” Dr Bii said, adding that his administration is also focused on empowering the third pillar in Dr Bii’s Nguzos of development<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Principal Secretary for ICT and Digital Economy, Eng John Tanui said the Ministry is focused on synergies with Counties especially in terms of internet connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
