In line with Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s Nguzo Kumi agenda on bolstering access to WI-FI\/internet for youth to participate and thrive in the digital space, residents of Uasin Gishu County are set to enjoy expanded internet services as the administration initiates discussions with Techtopia, a telecommunications company committed to providing internet solutions to underserved communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This collaboration aims to establish high-capacity public Wi-Fi networks across the region, enhancing internet access for business and educational purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director Techtopia Limited John Gichuki Karanja who paid a courtesy call on the ICT Chief Officer, said that the Wi-Fi networks will cover 200-meter radius around key hubs such as markets, colleges, and universities throughout the county. With a capacity of 1 gigabyte per second, the initiative promises to significantly improve connectivity for residents.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Wi-Fi initiative is driven by the county\u2019s mission to better utilize technology to improve service delivery for all Uasin Gishu residents,\u201d stated Mr. Karanja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Chief officer Mr. Felix Kimaru, this commitment aligns with Governor Bii’s Nguzo Kumi Agenda, focusing on promoting innovation and improving access to information services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Kimaru, the rollout of the Wi-Fi connection will occur in multiple phases. The first phase will target the county\u2019s main markets and Vocational Training Centers (VTCs).<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Wi-Fi hotspots will empower county residents with the necessary information for essential services, such as applications for business permits,\u201d Kimaru explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted the initiative’s goal of promoting the use of information and communication technology (ICT) among the populace, thereby making services more accessible and enhancing overall service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On his part, Director ICT Mr. Titus Mengich praised the initiative saying that the youth will benefit from enhanced opportunities to seek employment, engage in e-commerce, and access various services offered by both National and County Governments that can facilitate income generation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
