Good governance, accountability, transparency, digitization and inclusivity dominated Tuesday’s training of co-operative leaders drawn from various cooperative societies across the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event, organized by the department of Trade and Co-operatives aimed at imparting the leaders with importance of working towards strengthening their entities to realize economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

County Executive Committee Member for Trade and Co-operatives Martha Cheruto reiterated the need of coming together as a cornerstone of economic growth stressing the need to incorporate young people in the societies for continuation purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’m happy that you’re committed to having the youth join our societies in order to help us with ease on matters digitization and automation of our societies because they are well conversant with internet” noted Cheruto<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cheruto also urged them to work towards strengthening and making their societies grow and meet their expectations, emphasizing that good governance is a key aspect in the growth of economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co-operatives Chief Officer Ruth Samoei said, “Let us continue coming together, pool resources together to attract great opportunities and benefit as a whole”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Samoei, while calling on the leaders to preach the gospel of shares and mobilize more members into their societies, also urged them to embrace digitization which provides real time information, traceability and accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training saw the leaders trained on budgeting, financial reporting\/planning, internal controls, loan management among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
