The County Government of Uasin Gishu celebrated World Sight Day on Sunday at St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Kimumu under the theme “Children love your eyes”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event that culminated in the screening of over 800 children and the general public and the issuance of 300 eyeglasses highlighted the necessity for regular eye examinations, early detection and timely treatment of eye conditions, therefore ensuring access to quality eye care services.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Paul Wangwe, Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health, expressed the administration’s commitment to combating preventable blindness and enhancing the quality of life for individuals suffering from vision loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Under Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii’s administration, our mission is to eliminate preventable blindness and improve the overall health of our community,” Dr. Wangwe stated.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Wangwe highlighted the recent equipping of Huruma Sub County Hospital with the necessary resources to better serve the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our role is to promote eye health awareness and advocate for access to quality eye care services. We are dedicated to ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to receive the eye care they need,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Wangwe further noted that regular eye examinations are crucial for early detection of eye conditions, which can significantly reduce the risk of avoidable blindness, urging everyone to take their eye health seriously.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Richard Cheserek, in charge of Huruma Sub County Hospital, echoed Dr. Wangwe’s message, encouraging individuals to utilize the services offered by the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI urge every community member to visit our facility\u2019s eye unit. Early intervention can prevent the progression of eye conditions and help maintain vision,\u201d Cheserek advised, calling for proactive engagement from the public.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
