The County Government of Uasin Gishu Department of Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development in conjunction with the Noble Sacco on Tuesday issued at least 14 bodaboda saccos operating within Eldoret Central Business District with branded umbrellas.

Speaking during the event, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development Chief Officer Ruth Samoei called on the saccos chairmen to ensure members put on reflector jackets with the sacco name and the respective number challenging them to upgrade and always maintain their motorbikes to be in good condition to attract customers.

Samoei said her docket is working on a plan that will soon see the best managed and organized saccos awarded for best services.

“It is high time you consider joining a union because there are a lot of benefits that will come with it,” said Samoei.

Drucilla Cherogony who was representing the Cooperative Commissioner challenged sacco leaders to observe integrity on matters of members’ funds.

“As leaders, you need to organize education forums for your members to benefit immensely on among others growth and investments” added Cherogony.

Cooperatives officer Shadrack Rotich who was also present noted that new stages will soon be operated upon approval by the department calling all sacco members not complying by paying monthly motorbike stickers to do so.
