The County Government of Uasin Gishu under the leadership of H.E Governor Jonathan Bii has made plans to identify and upgrade 30 wards and six sub-county hospitals to improve the health services by taking services closer to the residents.

Speaking during a visit to Elgeyo border, Kapkei, Kimoning,Chelelmetio,Koitoror and Tuiyoluk health facilities in Tembelio ward Moiben Sub County, Health Services Executive Dr. Sam Kotut informed the residents of the Department’s commitment to improving each ward with a ward hospital to level 3B that will have a lab, theatre, ICU, and high treatment services.

We want to ascertain in each ward the best facility to be improved and enhanced so that the residents can visit the facility to reduce referrals, and decongest MTRH through the sub-county and ward hospitals hence reducing the expenses incurred by the locals especially those in the far end of the County,” he said.

Dr. Kotut affirmed his aim to work closely with the facility management for improved service delivery that will enable them to conduct tests such as cancer screening, TB, HIV and all other diseases affecting the residents across all the facilities in the county.

On his part, Tembelio Ward Member of County Assembly Hon. Evans Kapkea thanked the County for taking services closer to the residents noting that the support supervision will help them identify the challenges the residents go through.

β€œWe are visiting the facilities to understand your challenges and find solutions to them, understand areas of support and improvement, therefore, we want to urge the residents to be patient and work together with the management to see that residents get access to timely and responsive health care services, ” said Hon. Kapkea
